This Is What Happens When Boats and Bad Ideas Collide

Sailing Meets Sudden Humility

Winning feels great, but for Black Match Racing bowman Nick Blackman, the real prize was an impromptu dive and a wedgie of Olympic proportions. After clinching victory at Match Race Germany 2010, he barely had time to celebrate before his teammates decided the best way to honor the moment was by launching him straight into the water.

The cameras were rolling, the crowd was watching, and his harness had other plans. The rest of the crew looked equally entertained, with some attempting to “help” while mostly just laughing. Meanwhile, Nick’s gear made sure to hold on tighter than his grip on the boat, delivering an unfortunate wardrobe adjustment mid-air.
