Mark Spitz (Born In 1950) – Olympic Swimming Champion
Mark Andrew Spitz made waves in his heydays as a competitive swimmer. He is a nine-time Olympic winner and is considered the 1972 Summer Olympics’ most successful athlete. During the Games of the XX Olympiad, Spitz won seven gold medals, and he maintained the record for 36 years until Michael Phelps won eight at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
ESPN ranked Spitz on their 1999 “SportsCentury 50 Greatest Athletes” list. He retired following his ’72 victory at the age of 22 and ventured into the film and TV industry. In 2019, we saw him advertizing a KardiaMobile EKG device. Spitz is married to Suzy Weiner, and they share two sons.
